   1.  Graph the function, then while viewing the graph press the TRACE button.

   2.  Type 1.997 (you will see that value next to X= at the bottom of the screen)   then press the ENTER button.

   3.  The y-value will appear at the bottom of the screen along with the x-value you typed in.
