Graphing Rational Equations
Part I
For the above rational functions, do the following
1. Find the zeros and place them on a number line.
2. Include Test Points, then determine the function's behavior around these zeros.
3. Identify all Vertical Asymptotes.
(Note - vertical asymptotes are lines, not points! Label accordingly.)
4. Using interval notation, describe the function's behavior, citing whether the behavior is above or below the x-axis.
5. Identify where the function is discontinuous and the type of discontinuity.
6. If there is a hole in this graph, identify it.
~ Record your work on the provided document. You will need to print out 2 copies.
~ You can use Notability to record your work on the above doc. label,
~ Save the above-written analysis as Rat_Gr_Analy_LastName.
Part II
~ After (and only after you do the written analysis), use Desmos to graph each function.
~ Identify and label the points where the graph crosses the x-axis.
~ Using your written analysis, answer the following questions for each problem:
1. Were your zeros correct? If not, describe your mistake.
2. Were your vertical asymptotes accurate? If not, describe your mistake.
3. Were the intervals describing the region above the x-axis correct?
If not, describe your mistake.
4. Were the intervals describing the region below the x-axis correct? If not, describe your mistake.
~ Include your name on each Graph.
~ Save each graph as follows: Prob#_Rat_Gr_LastName (# should be 1, or 2)
~ Point value: 20 pts.
Include the following at the top of your work page.
