10.2  Graphs of Tan/Csc/Sec 

A Brief Intro to Tan x, Csc x, Sec x

     You will not be tested on these trig function graphs.

    Unlike the sine and cosine functions, these graphs are not stressed, but you should know and recognize them.

     You will not be handing anything for this section.  Just "experiment."

Tangent x

     Properties of the Tangent Function

          1.  The domain - the set of all real numbers except odd multiples of π/2.

          2.  The range - the set of all real numbers.

          3.  The tangent function is an odd function, as the symmetry of the graph with respect to the origin indicates.

          4.  The tangent function is periodic.  The period is π.

          5.   The x-intercepts are -2π,  -π,  0,   π,  2π.

          6.    The y-intercept is 0.

          7.    Vertical asymptotes occur at x =  -3/2 π,  -π/2,  π/2,  3/2 π.
